<div>Upon designing Hephaestus, we embarked on a personal mission, with one predefined goal: to release a truly original theme. We had grown weary of imitation; exhausted from mimicking the designs of countless others for inspiration.</div>

<div>We established said goal, subsequent to an unfortunate epiphany – all themes are the same. :(</div>

<div><em>Prior to iOS 7, a majority of themes were skeuomorphic, due to the design of iOS itself, being skeuomorphic. Following iOS 7, the existence of skeuomorphism-based themes dwindled, as skeuomorphism was phased out, in favor of flat, simplistic user interfaces.</em></div>

<div>We participated in Apple's cat and mouse game, mocking their designs, with those we labeled as our own. When their designs changed, our designs changed, to follow suit.</div>

<div>With Hephaestus, we broke free of such predictability. In doing so, we crafted a theme that has continued to withstand the test of time.</div>
